The KC Fusion Soccer Club story dates back to 1973, and likely well before that. It’s a story that is etched in the fabric of Shawnee, Kansas and the surrounding suburbs and over the years, has spilled over the state line into Missouri. What once was Shawnee Soccer Club, then Shawnee Elite, and Southwest United Soccer Club became Metro United Soccer Club and finally organized under one name, one crest and one club – KC FUSION.
As we embark on the 50th year of this great club’s existence, we must look back to the people and places that made us who we are today. Names such as Tom Knox, Andy Alvey, Kristy Cleaver, Alan Jones, Phil Crosley, Nate Houser, Mark Kohlrus, Marlin Wallenburg, Nick Disidore and Jason Powers are just a few of the key people who played a role in shaping a small local club of recreational soccer teams into a thriving community of developmental, recreational, and highly successful competitive soccer players and their parents and fans. Our #FusionFamily.
KC Fusion is as deep-rooted to the fabric of Kansas City soccer – and especially that of Shawnee – as any club in the area. We are proud of the first 50 years we have put forth in terms of the opportunity to develop players, inspire them and their families, and continue to achieve great things together.
We proudly celebrate this Golden Anniversary for our club and look forward to many more years as a collective #FusionFamily!
